ADHD and Private clinics

Prescriptions

Please also review our information on Private Prescriptions.

ADHD are specialist medications and can only be prescribed by a GP under an NHS Shared Care agreement.

Therefore we are unable to issue an NHS prescription if you are attending a private ADHD clinic. You will need to continue obtaining these from your private specialist.

This would occur if there are concerns regarding the quality of assessment processes and/ or no regular follow up monitoring clinics provided for patients whilst they remain on ADHD medication.

Please note that since November 2025, GPs in South East London are no longer able to refer directly to ‘Right to Choose’ ADHD assessment services. Direct referrals to these services are no longer funded by NHS South East London.

Instead all referrals for a first adult ADHD assessment must be sent to the SEL Adult ADHD Referrals Triage Service.
